Ryan 302 Posted July 26, 2018 THIS IS FOR ADVANCED USERS - FOR BACKING UP YOU SHOULD JUST USE THE BACKUP BUTTONS IN THE ELECTRON WALLET OR THE QT. See here For those that need to or wish to perform a manual backup, you should first shut down your wallet software. The file locations if you are using electron are here if on windows : C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Xaya\wallets\game.dat\wallet.dat C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Xaya\wallets\vault.dat\wallet.dat If you are using the QT on windows, it will create just 1 wallet which is here C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Xaya\wallets\wallet.dat Or on Linux if your are using the QT or daemon : ~/.xaya/wallets/wallet.dat and on Mac ~/Library/Application Support/Xaya/wallets/wallet.dat If you haven't run the XAYA QT wallet, you will not have first file in that list. This is normal. With the wallet software not running, copy those files to a safe location. Make sure that you know which wallet is which. You may wish to rename them, e.g. "My XAYA game wallet.dat" or "My XAYA QT wallet.dat" or "My XAYA vault wallet.dat". Restart your wallet software after you've safely backed up your wallets. I'm using Xaya Electron wallet. Dunno why but in my: %APPDATA%\Xaya\wallets I have the two folders game.dat and vault.dat but I haven't the file: %APPDATA%\Xaya\wallets\wallet.dat However everything seems working perfectly. Should I consider to worry about that? Edited July 29, 2018 by Metasploit
tyKiwanuka 103 Posted July 29, 2018 With C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Xaya\wallets\ it should look like this, where you have that one wallet.dat file: The wallet.dat files for game and vault are in the folders on top.

This is my current folder structure: What's the purpose of that wallet.dat file? At the moment everything seems to work in my wallet. tyKiwanuka 103 Posted July 29, 2018 Ok, not sure why you are missing some files there tbh. In the end backing up the game/vault wallet.dat should be sufficient, but I will try to get confirmation for that.
tyKiwanuka 103 Posted July 29, 2018 Ok, Andy gave some answer in telegram about it. When you ONLY installed the Electron wallet, it looks like it does with you. Only if you also installed the QT wallet, you will have that extra wallet.dat file here: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Xaya\wallets\ I have installed both wallets (Electron and QT), that is why I have those 3 wallet.dat files in my screenshot (and you are missing the one). So you are fine

snailbrain 133 Posted July 29, 2018 Hi. Just to clarify. There are not 3 wallet.dat s If you use electron, it creates 2 wallets in 2 folders - vault.dat and game.dat in the wallet folder. (and in those folders a file called wallet.dat) if you use the QT it creates the default wallet called wallet.dat in the wallet folder. so you should never have 3 wallet.dat unless you use both the QT and Electron. If you do there will all be 3 separate wallets and won't be visible in either software (unless you know what you are doing). I have modified the first post for the wallet files on linux - there is only 1x wallet.dat in the ~/.xaya/wallet folder
snailbrain 133 Posted July 29, 2018 Mac wallet.dat location is ~/Library/Application Support/Xaya/wallets/wallet.dat
